Elevate your holiday gatherings this season with a canapé that’s as elegant as it is easy to make. These prosciutto-wrapped fig canapés combine sweet, savoury, and tangy flavours for a perfectly balanced bite. A must-have for your festive spread!
- 2 - 3 slices prosciutto
- 4 fresh figs
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 baguette, sliced crosswise
- 1/4 olive oil
- 1 sprig rosemary
- Mini basil leaves (optional) or finely sliced basil leaves
- 1/3 cup mild blue cheese cut into small slices (Stilton, gorgonzola, danish blue, etc.)
Yields 16 pieces canapés
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Slice baguette crosswise and drizzle with olive oil
- Bake in oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown; set aside and let it cool down
- In a small pot or pan add balsamic vinegar, rosemary and honey; let simmer until thickened
- Cut fresh figs into quarters and wrap with small slices of prosciutto
- To assemble top toasted baguette with blue cheese and prosciutto wrapped fig
- Glaze with balsamic honey
- Garnish with mini basil leaves or finely sliced basil leaves
