Georgia Straight - Best of Vancouver Culinary School Award

PICAchef is proud to receive the Best of Vancouver Culinary School award from Georgia Strait for 2023. The award results from thousands of votes from participants across Vancouver and highlights PICAchef’s continued role as a local educational leader within the Vancouver community. 

PICAchef beat fierce competition to win the Best of Vancouver Culinary School award, and the 2023 accolade marks a return to the top for PICAchef, after winning the award for five straight years.

PICAchef Graduates’ Awards 

While the school’s success in the culinary industry highlights our growing reputation, the success of our students is a testament to our exceptional culinary training. Examples of the awards received by PICAchef graduates in recent years include:

Andrea Dopico Cafarell, a graduate of PICAchef’s Baking and Pastry Arts Professional Diploma Program, was featured in the Forbes Top 30 under 30 list. Andrea has worked in multiple Michelin-star-rated restaurants and competed in international pastry events.

PICAchef culinary graduate Mark Perrier’s Carlino Restaurant and Lounge at the Shangri-La Hotel was named one of the Best New Restaurants in Vancouver by the Vancouver Sun for his outstanding Northern Italian cuisine. 

Pastry Arts graduate Cheryl Wakerhauser is making waves in the global wine scene for her whimsical approach to flavor combinations. Cheryl has won the World's Best Champagne and Sparkling Wine List award. While her Portland, OR restaurant, Pix Patisserie, has recently won the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence.
